RFIDInvesting.com Presents its First Online Investor Forum for RFID Stocks and Industry

POINT ROBERTS, WA. November 19, 2004 - RFIDInvesting.com, a global investor and industry news portal for RFID stocks and industry, (a portal within the InvestorIdeas.com umbrella of investor portals), is pleased to announce its upcoming online investor forum, January 26th, 2005. InvestorIdeas.com has successfully hosted investor forums for homeland security stocks and the natural gas stocks sector. With RFID fast tracking to meet 2005 implementation deadlines, investors are looking at RFID as”the next big thing". With applications in retail, pharmaceutical, security and other leading industry sectors, analysts and investors are expecting RFID to dramatically change the way we do business in the future.

Investors can hope to better understand the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) industry, which some analysts expect will save the Wal-Mart Corporation more than $1 billion annually upon their adoption of this technology early next year. The online forum/conference will feature speakers from a cross section of small and large public companies that are positioned in the RFID sector. The format will be a ten to fifteen minute audio presentation and an accompanying PowerPoint or Flash presentation.

RFIDinvesting.com offers investors research, news and links to public companies within the RFID sector. The site does not give specific recommendations, and encourage investors to complete their own due diligence.

RFID
By Allen R. Gibson

Radio Frequency Identification Tags are one of those minuscule pieces of technology that have the potential to transform current business practices in several industries, and perhaps even create new industries of their own...kind of like the cell phone.

And, unlike many other pieces of technology that have been touted over the last decade, there is little doubt that RFID is going to live up to its billing. Already, it's changing the supply chain management techniques of America's biggest retailer and employer, Wal-Mart, and the logistical support function of the US military. Not bad for a tiny piece of wireless technology!

What RFID tags do, in essence, is perform the same function as a barcode. Except they broadcast their information wirelessly, so that it can be read at a distance and not require a hand-held scanner. Oh, and it can transmit a lot more information than a barcode holds. That may not sound like much, but it will likely transform the entire global shipping industry, provide millions of dollars in cost savings via improved 'just-in-time' delivery systems, and

increase the Department of Homeland Security's ability to prevent weapons of mass destruction from being smuggled into the country.

Dr. K. Thirumalai, Chief Engineer for the US Department of Transportation Research and Special Programs Administration, says RFID tags will play an important role in the "intelligent transportation monitoring systems" which are being developed now to scan and track shipping containers and to monitor the status of their seals in real-time.

"Can we use wireless technologies to have a continuous record of the 'sealing status' on the container? And secondly can wireless tech be used to transmit the manifest of what is in the container, and verify that it hasn't been tampered with?" These are the questions Dr. Thirumalai says are facing the container business currently.

"RFID tags are one of the prime movers of the easy technologies that can be implemented to accomplish this," he says. "Within a few years every container will be secure."
